Having a custom subdomain Name for your Conversational Landing Page allows the page to look like it is coming from your website! It is one of the many ways we allow you to personalize your Drift content.
In this doc, we'll cover
- setting up a custom subdomain for your Conversational Landing Pages
Conversational Landing Pages are available on our Essential plan and above.
Setting up a Custom Domain for your CLP
Head over to your Bot Settings! Settings > App Settings > Bot or click here. Find the Conversational Landing Page drop down and click into it.
Choose the Use a custom subdomain option and set up your custom domain name!
The custom subdomain should be formatted like this: newlandingpage.YOURDOMAIN.com
Once you create your CNAME, access the records generated for you by clicking View CNAME values.
There are two CNAME records that you need to create in your domain service provider.
1. The first record that allows Drift to create a security certificate for your sub-domain, so all content is served over HTTPS
If you have GoDaddy, the records we provide you will look like this _01ddb58486cc02aebc5682e020a73b76.clp.drift.com, but you'll want to truncate the domain off of the end because GoDaddy will silently append it on. You'll want it to look like this instead: _01ddb58486cc02aebc5682e020a73b76.clp . This applies to both the first and second record!
2. The second record that allows your sub-domain to point to Drift's landing page servers.
Now, setting up these CNAMEs in your domain service providers (DSP) will be different depending on which provider you have. However, for all of them you will need to find where you can customize your domains and then create two CNAMES.
After your enter your CNAME information into your provider, it can take up to 24 hours for your subdomain to propagate. But, we auto-verify every 15 minutes by asking if the domain is set up, and if so, make it live! Additionally, these records will expire after 72 hours.
