Importing Account info and ABM playbooks are available on the Premium, Advanced and Enterprise Drift plans.
In this article we'll go over:
You can use the CSV upload feature to add your targeted accounts into Drift.
There are 3 fields that you need to make sure to include and populate in your CSV:
- Account Name
- Domain (website)
- Account owner email (This email must match the email address of your teammate in Drift. This will be the person the messages will be coming from)
What if I don't have a CSV or know how to make one?
Don't worry, we've included a simple CSV template at the bottom of this article for you to download and modify as you need.

How to import account info into Drift:
To import account info:
- Go visitors on the lefthand sidebar
- Select All Accounts
- Click manage accounts
- Select import a CSV
Once completed, you'll be brought to the Import log. From here, you can see if you have any errors.
If there are accounts that caused an error, you will be able to download the CSV of failed accounts (via the View button on the right hand side) and change the information necessary for those reports, so you can re-upload those accounts back into Drift:
Again, when you re-upload your failed accounts, you do not need to re-upload the entire list.
Just the updated accounts that failed the first time. Once you have your Accounts uploaded, you can now go on to setting up an AMB playbook as detailed in the next section.
Setting up an ABM playbook
AMB playbooks are used to greet a targeted account and invite them to start a chat with you. To set up an ABM playbook:
- Go to Playbooks
- Select Create Chat Playbook / Bot Live Chat Playbook
- Select ABM welcome message as your playbook type.
This playbook will automatically put the Account Owner as both the “welcome message” face and route the conversation right to them if the lead responds.
We recommend using personalization tokens to make the message personal for your accounts, to do this, click Personalization to browse the available tokens.
In order to have this playbook display for your targeted accounts make sure you add the targeting condition "Targeted Account is True". Add any additional conditions you like!
The default targeting settings are set up so that everyone who is part of a targeted account that you've synced to Drift will receive that personalized message.
Set the Frequency to have your Playbook deliver to your audience once, once per session, or on every page load!
Once all of your Playbook settings are up to your standards, you can save your settings, and publish it!
