Drift’s desktop app is currently only supported for those using our Free plan! If you are on a paid plan, you can use the desktop app, but please note that functionalities specific to your plan may be missing at the moment. We will be updating the desktop app frequently, and expect to have the paid features soon! Stay tuned!
/note is the new command for creating internal notes! Once you type /note into your text composer your chat box will turn into a yellow notepad where you can write your thoughts on the conversation or assist your colleagues when they are chatting with a client. You can see how your message composer will turn yellow; to go back to the normal (public) chat box just press the Esc key or delete the “/note” text and your message composer will go from yellow (internal note mode) back to white (normal message mode). These internal notes can only be seen by you and your teammates.
/sendtranscript is the new command for sending chat transcripts to the email of the user you are chatting with! Please note that this command will only work if an email is known or has been provided. Additionally chat transcripts can only be sent to the email of the user chatting (not an outside email) - this change was implemented recently for security reasons.
To tag a conversation, you can use the slash command /tag to mark the chat with a pre-existing tag! This command will only allow you to apply a known tag, so if you are looking to create a tag you will need to do that in the ‘tags’ section of the Details sidebar in the right sidebar or in Settings > App Settings > Conversations > Tags! When looking at your Conversations Report under “How are conversations being tagged?”, you can analyze conversation tags here to better understand trends in your Drift chats.
/block is the slash command that blocks an end user based on their IP address, making it so they are unable to chat in! As soon as a user is blocked, they will no longer be able to send you messages through the Drift widget. They will still be able to see the Drift widget, but if they try to send a message, it will not go through. Instead it will appear to always be in the "Sending..." state.
To unblock a visitor, simply use the command /unblock :
