With the Create Mined Contacts Skill, you can make new contacts records for people found in the body of your emails. For example, if a person leaves the company, they may refer their replacement. With Drift Email, you can create a new contact for that person automatically.
The guide covers the steps to configure skills to create new contacts mined from your emails. To get started, click the "Skills" icon in the navigation bar, then "Create skill," and then click "Create Mined Contacts."
Step 1: Skill Name and Filters
Name your skill
We suggest naming your rule something that will help you remember what you are trying to achieve with this rule. In this example, the rule is named "Left Company New Contacts"
Select email types
There are 6 different types of replies that you can mine for new contacts. Learn more about how we classify email replies in this detailed article. In this example, we have chosen "left company" as our email type.
Once you've finished this first step, you also have the option to add any filters you would like to apply to the emails that run through this skill. You have the option of filtering by source, language, body text, and subject text.
In this example, we've added a source filter and a body text filter.
Choose contact quality
Contact quality specifies the system's confidence in the contact being an actual person with correct data. We recommend creating high and medium quality contacts. Check out our in-depth article on this topic to learn more.
Step 2: Update
In the next step of your skill, you can choose how you would like to sync the new contacts from the emails you specified in Step 1. In this example, we're tracking contacts in Marketo, and writing them to the Siftrock - New Contacts list.
There are 3 different types of field mapping available in a create mined contacts skill: static field mapping, Drift Email field mapping, and sender field mapping.
Drift Email field mapping
Drift Email's data can be mapped to fields in your MAP. You can map data to standard fields or custom fields. By default email address, name, and phone number will be mapped from Drift Email to your MAP.
Static field mapping
Static field mapping allows you to set a field to a specific value for all contacts created through this workflow. One example we recommend as a best practice is populating your Lead Source field with "Drift Email." This gives you a quick way to find all new contacts in your database that originated from Drift Email.
Sender field mapping
Use this section to map fields from the sender (the original recipient of your email) to the new contacts being created. Drift Email will pull the data from the sender's record in your MAP and copy values to the new contact record.
Fields such as company name, industry, company location, and company size enable you to immediately segment the new contacts with your standard rules already configured in your MAP.
In this example, we're writing "Drift Email" to the lead source field, we're mapping the Email subject to a custom field in Marketo called "Siftrock Subject" and we're mapping the company name via sender field mapping.
Once you've decided which list to write your new contacts to, and set up any field mapping, you should click "Save changes." You can turn the skill on right from inside the builder and you'll be all set! We'll process any new email replies that match your filters.
