Having a robust and engaged audience list is an essential part of making your Email Bot campaign successful. But what if someone’s email bounces, you spoke with them offline, or you just want them removed from your targeted audience? In this article, we'll go over three ways a contact can be removed from an Email Bot campaign, and also how to manually remove a contact as well.
This feature is available for Drift Email Bot customers only.
There are three ways a contact can be removed from an Email Bot campaign:
- Replying to the campaign
Any contact who replies to an email in your campaign will be automatically removed. This will not apply to “out of office” replies or other automated responses.
- Unsubscribing from a campaign
An unsubscribe link is automatically added at the bottom of each email in a campaign. Contacts who click this link will be removed from all further Drift Email Bot campaigns (As seen in the screen shot below.)
- Email bounces
An email bounce is when an email cannot be delivered to the recipient. This can happen for a number of reasons, such as an invalid email, security settings on the recipient’s end or the recipient’s inbox being full.
Manually removing a contact from a campaign.
In lieu of the three steps listed above, you can also manually remove contacts from a campaign. To manually pull a contact out of a live campaign, navigate to the Campaigns tab in the Drift Email app.
From here, find the campaign your contact is enrolled in and hover over the name to reveal the View report icon.
This will open the reporting dashboard for your campaign. Next, click the Performance tab.
Once you’ve reached the Performance tab, select the People tab then hover over the contact you’re looking to remove, and select Unenroll.
