What is the Desktop app?
The Drift Desktop App is an application for your desktop device which will allow you to quickly access your Drift conversations! When using this app, messaging prospects via Drift live chat will be faster, easier, and more reliable than ever. Currently, the app only supports live chat.
Where can I Download the Desktop app?
Are we going to force users over to the app UI or new conversation experience?
The short answer is; no
Users can opt themselves out of using the Desktop app, and we don't opt in any premium + users, they have to opt in to see the new experience.
I've switched to the New Live Chat Experience, but would like to revert back to the old view, is there a way to do that?
Sure is! Check out this link to view a quick video on how to opt out of the new conversation experience.
What plans can use the Desktop App?
All of our pricing plans are now supported in the Drift Desktop App!
How do we sync data to the CRM now that “closing” a conversation is gone?
When a conversation session ends, you can configure Drift to send data to your connected Salesforce, Marketo, Hubspot, Eloqua, or Pardot instance(s). Sending data to those systems automatically when a conversation ends will ensure that your sales and marketing teams can react to new leads and activities as fast as possible. We go into detail around how session-based data syncing works below.
Select “Sync” at the top of the conversation to manually push that conversation’s data to your integration.
Session-based data sync can be enabled from the advanced conversation settings page by selecting the checkbox labeled 'Use session timeout to sync data to your integrations'.
Settings > Conversations > Advanced Conversation Settings
Can you view reports in the desktop app?
You can't view reports within the desktop app, but there is a Reports button that when clicked will open the reports page of Drift in your web browser.
What’s changed with notifications in the new experience?
You may notice that you no longer see a “Notifications” page under “Settings” in the main Drift app. Managing your notifications is now much simpler and can be done directly through Drift. Simply click the dropdown on the top left and click on Notification settings to tweak your notification preferences.
You can turn the Desktop notifications switch on to start receiving notification alerts on desktop. Check the Play notification sounds box if you’d like your notifications to play a sound when you receive them. You can also turn Email notifications on or off from here. Mobile push notifications can be configured through the Drift mobile app on iOS or Android.
Users in drift can now set themselves away each day for a custom period of time.
What / commands are available?
Does the Desktop app communicate with a cloud service, if so what method does it use and what ports/protocols are used?
We currently communicate with AWS over .drift.com and driftapi. All use SSL so port 443.
