Now that your campaign is built, we’re almost ready to launch - here is how to test an email campaign and make sure everything is in working order.
Note:
All test sends will go to the email address you use to log into Drift Email. At this time, it is not possible to send test campaigns to anyone other than your own email address.
Setup for Testing
In the Drift Email app, navigate to Campaigns and select the campaign you’d like to test.
1. Set your Sender
In your campaign, go to the Sender tab and ensure that the From and From name dropdowns are populated with your email bot’s information.
Note: If the “send test campaign” is greyed out, it’s because you have not chosen a sender.
2. Enable Email Bot replies
Navigate back to the Emails tab in your campaign.
From here, Click the campaign status in the top right. You’ll see two toggles:
- Email sending - this enrolls all the contacts from your Audience tab in the campaign. Do NOT switch this toggle on if you want to test your campaign!
- Bot replies - this enables the auto-responses you’ve set up for your bot. This is safe to turn on when testing.
Make sure the Email sending toggle is OFF and the Bot replies toggle is ON.
3. Save changes
In order to make sure you’re sending the most recent version of your campaign, hit Save changes in the upper right before testing.
After checking these steps, you have two options to test: testing an individual email or testing the whole campaign.
Test an individual email
On the Emails tab, click into the email you’d like to test. Then select Send test email at the bottom.
Test your whole campaign
On any tab in your campaign, select Send test campaign in the upper right.
This will send all emails in your campaign at once, with no delays in between.
Testing your bot replies
Once you receive the test emails in your inbox, you can respond to the emails in order to test that your bot replies are working as expected.
If you want to send multiple replies, you will need to send multiple test campaigns. Each test will only trigger bot replies once.
Testing complete? Head over to the pre-launch checklist to get going!
