In addition to supporting audience lists loaded from your Marketing Automation Platform, Email Bots can follow up with Drift Chat conversations on a per-playbook basis.
This feature requires both an Email Bots and Chat subscription. Not sure if you have one of these? Chat with us below or email firstname.lastname@example.org
There are two main pieces to set up Email bots to follow up with chat conversations. First, you'll need to create the segment in the drift contact view. Second, you'll need to select that segment as the audience in the email bot builder.
Before we start building segments, you will need the playbook ID of the bot you want to send email follow ups for. To find the playbook ID go to the playbook table and it will be under the name of the playbook.
First, select the filter "Attribute." Then select the appropriate version of the attributes that start with engaged_playbook_. The particular version you select will have the playbook ID at the end of the attribute name. Select this attribute and create the segment based on the conversation happening after today's date to ensure you only follow up with new conversations.
Click "Apply filter" to filter your contacts. Save this as a dynamic segment and your audience is ready to go!
In the Audience tab of a new Email Bot Campaign, select segment you just created as your audience
And that's it! You're ready to save your changes and enable your Email Bot to start following up with chat leads.
How it works
Who will it email?
Who we email is totally up to how you construct your audience segment. However by default we'll exclude any site visitor that booked a meeting with your team through Drift in the last 30 days to avoid interfering with leads active in a sales cycle and anyone that has unsubscribed from other emails you've sent through Drift.
When will emails send?
The first emails will send when you enable the campaign to everyone on the segment. Check who this is by viewing the segment at https://app.drift.com/contacts/segments. If you'd like to delay the email and schedule it for a business day in the future, you can set an initial delay on the campaign.
